Unique Custom Transformers - The Airport Transformer

JACKSON ENGINEERING was contacted in 2011 by an Airport in Northern California to custom design a Large Power Single Phase Transformer that had blown out (originally built in the 50's). Their transformer was used in the lighting system at the airport so that planes could land safely with abundant light.

The company that originally manufactured the Airport Transformer was contacted for them to manufacture an identical new transformer. The company told the Airport that they did not want to manufacture another one, and in fact the Airport was having a terrible time finding a Custom Specialty Transformer Company to design and manufacture their transformer.

Jackson Engineering was contacted by the Airport as one of their last options. We gave them a FREE QUOTE, based not on a New Transformer Design, but based on us backwards engineering their transformer. They agreed to send us the non-functional original transformer, and from there we backwards engineered a new transformer. This Custom Single Phase Transformer is equipped with 4 primary taps and 9 secondary taps. We also equipped this transformer with a built-in fuse, so the next time a power surge occurs it will not blow out the transformer.
